Title - Let's Get the Family Together
Scripture - Ephesians 5:21-25, KJV
Notes -Pastor Ellis uses this message to communicate what the Bible says about keeping the family together. Family's are in disarray because we have not harken to what Paul taught the Ephesians in chapter 5. The family must stay together, if we don't follow the Bibles instructions, we find erosion in the fabricate of society. Families, churches, communities and nations will continue to be in disarray until family's get themselves together. Our children, who often disrespect their parents are key factors in making this happen. In today's world children have no respect for authority and they want all things their way. The reality is that the family, both (husband and wife) need to choose to do all things God's way. It is not about dominating positions in families between a man and a woman but it is about Biblical relationships as described in Ephesians and emphasized in Genesis 3. Husband and wife must understand what the Bible says about true godly relationships between the two. Understanding this is a foundational principle that will drive positive change in families, communities and the nations.

Title - It Takes More Than a Look
Scripture - Matthew 5:19-20, KJV
Notes -This message gives a snap shot comparison of the Pharisees and the Sadducees and how they would stand in public trying to show how good they could pray. They did not believe that Jesus was the Messiah but only focused on the Law of Moses. They did not demonstrate their faith but only show cased their self righteousness. During this time the Pharisees became government officials and Scribes became lawyers. There is much more to the story.

Title - Christmas is More Than a Child
Scripture - John 1:1-2, 14, KJV
Notes -Today's message speaks to the fact that "Christmas is More Than a Child" and we should realize that it is much more. Pastor Ellis takes us deeper into the Word of God to give more insight. Often we don't talk about from whence this child originated. Most Christians and others know he story of the Christ child being born in a manger (box or long trough animals used to consume water). The Bible clearly tells us in the book of John that "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God". And there was nothing before. John 1:14 tells us know that the Word became flesh. This is who Jesus is and there is much more in this lesson.

Title - Jesus Was Rejected
Scripture - 1 John 10-12, KJV
Notes - This messages addresses the fact that the Jewish Nation rejected Jesus. And He was Jewish! Some of us have a preconceived notion of what a Savior should look like.
That is largely because we don't pray enough. Or have not established a deep relationship with Jesus Christ. We ask ourselves is the preacher the only one who can pray? Who can God use for His Glory? We ask ourselves why aren't we more successful in life and why are we rejected. We do know that if they rejected Jesus, then they most certainly will reject other Christians. The good news is that following Jesus Christ and Biblical teaching is the way to finding hope and mercy through His Grace, according to our faith.

Title - When God is Silent
Scripture - No Scripture from God was Recorded
Notes -The blank page between the Old and New Testament was 400 years when God did not speak. No scripture was recorded. Pastor Ellis preached that God was preparing the Earth for His son, Jesus Christ. Malachi, the last book in the Old Testament, warns us about not taking God seriously and about giving Him our left overs. Life and death are in His hands. During this 400 year period, Israel was going out of the Persian empire and Judah is being freed to worship God.Power shifted from Babylonia, Egypt and to the European Roman Empire. It was during that 400 years (when God was not speaking) that the Roman Empire took over. During this time, the Pharisees came up as protectors, the Sadducees wanted to protect their government positions and the scribes became lawyers. In 40 BC, the Herodians in the senate appointed a King which leads us to the book of Matthew and the coming birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ! And there is much more to the story.

Title - What looks like a Detour is Intentional
Scripture - John 4:1-4, KJV
Notes: This message begins with the church. Sometimes we see folks being blessed and some how we still struggle ourselves. Some seemingly to have their breakthrough, deliverance - their freedom, their salvation and joy restored. And yet it appears that God has forgotten all about us. We ask, what about me Lord? And we often wonder if it is our destiny to remain in our current state of despair for the rest of our lives. The fact is that God has not forgotten about us. Whatever the struggle or need - God has not forgotten about us. In the gospel of John, we read that Jesus is on His way to Galilee but He had detoured to Samaria. The Jews hated the Samaritans because they were mixed race with their captors and they worshiped God in the mountains instead of the temple in Jerusalem. Jews considered this to be blasphemous. We know that God is everywhere. Jesus had to detour to go through Samaria to share the truth of the gospel to the sinners in that land.

Title - Sin, The Son and Sunship
Scripture -John 3:16-17, KJV
Notes: It seems that we seldom want to talk about our problems and if we do, we don't talk about the true source of the problem. Similar to medical science, we treat the symptoms instead of dealing with the root cause of the symptom. Sin is the root of all our problems starting in the garden of Eden with Adam and Eve. We must understand that our joy comes from God's spirit from within and not external things of this world. God gave us His Son who died and rose from the grave for us, for our sins .We serve one God in 3 persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We should trust Him He will never leave or forsake us.

Title - In the Middle of a Struggle
Scripture - Job 7:17-21, KJV Job
Notes: Job teaches us that when you are in the middle of a storm it is like no other time as we don't understand its magnitude. However, trouble does not last forever but at the end we look back at the wonderful power of God who brought us through the storm. There are times where we can't depend on our friends and we have no one to turn too but God! As in Job his friends thought he had done something wrong. Even when we do nothing wrong and things are bad around us, we should never give up. We must realize that God is always in control. As we see Job was restored at the end of the storm, He will do the same for us. Keep your faith.

Title - It's Time to Break the Cycle of Sin
Scripture - Book of Judges, KJV
Notes: Judges follows the book of Joshua and the story of the Israelites entering the "promised land aka the land of milk and honey" followed by discontent and complaining about many things. They requested to be led by a King. Pastor Ellis preached that Judges depicts a cycle of recurring sin that is still very much alive today. They would sin, experience hardship and ask God for redemption. God would forgive them and they would sin again. This was a continuous cycle of sin much like today. God gives us conditions, we make promises but don't want to be obedient. In those days in every man did what was right in his own eye's. Lawlessness! Nothing occurs without God knowing. Title - What Happened to the Witnesses?
Scripture - Acts 1:8, KJV
Notes: When we hear of the actions in the book of Acts, especially in the first chapter, we understand that Jesus is empowering the church. In chapter two, He initiates the church by giving it the promised power. As we read through the book of Acts, we see growth in the church being multiplied daily. You find people witnessing continually about the Good News of the gospel of Jesus Christ. In chapter five of the book of Acts, we find the church growing exponentially; multitudes of men and women coming, crying out, what must I do to be saved? The church is on the move being empowered by the Holy Ghost to become witnesses. As we see the church multiplying, it is thought by the year 500 AD, that the entire civilized world would have been evangelized. However, we are in year 2022 and that still has not manifested. What happened to the church that it is now on a decline? History shows us that people became more enamored with Catholicism, buildings and religion from the Old Testament which was devoid of a relationship with God until He sent Jesus to save us from our sins as referenced in John 3:16. Some say we go to church so that we may go to heaven. Actually, God touches our hearts to go to church to become a witness to bring the lost to Christ.

Title - Is Your World to Small
Scripture - Mark 16:15-16, KJV
Notes: Mark 16:15-16 is often referred to as the "Great Commission", although this name (phrase) is not mentioned in the Bible. Hudson Taylor, who was a British Protestant missionary to China, first used the phrase"Great Commission" in the 18th Century. Often we find ourselves living in a bubble and we tend to confine our worship within the four walls of the church.
Jesus commanded that we "go into all the world preaching the gospel to every creature" (vs. 15). The word gospel comes from the greek meaning to evangelize. This was a command and not a suggestion. As a Christian, it is our mission to follow His commands. Many deny doing this and say God did not call me to preach. Preaching is about sharing and most of us share with someone daily. We need to adjust ourselves and start sharing the Word of God (preaching the gospel), evangelizing. The problems the world is experiencing are due to sin and the outcome is death. Our world is too small and cannot continue accepting multiple sins. God commands that we evangelize the gospel to the world. Jesus came so that all may have life and have it more abundantly.

Title - Which Tree Do You Want?
Scripture - Genesis 2:16-17; 3:2-3, KJV
Notes: How did we get in this mess, into a life so full of misery where people just do anything? For their stuff, people will do anything, even kill. We live in a world today full of weather disasters, hurricanes and floods. We still have a God who is in control, who loves us. And we ask how He can let this happen. The Bible tells us that God knows everything and that there are no mistakes. In the midst of all this havoc, God will work out everything for our good (Rom 8:28). Genesis 2:9 tells us that every tree in the Garden of Eden is pleasant to the sight and good for food. So we ask ourselves how did we get here today with so much chaos in the world? We got where we are today because of sin. The sin that Adam committed is the reason for the egregious sin in the world today. Sin is sin, large or small, and God will not tolerate sin. Today the world is full of misinformation perpetuated by satan and his lies. God will help us get through this mess we're in and to eat from the Tree of Life. This comes only by accepting Jesus Christ as our savior. God saved us for a reason and we have to ask ourselves what are we going to do with it?

Title - Truth and Freedom
Scripture - John 8:31-32, KJV
Notes: John 8:31-32 clearly states that the "truth shall make you free." Jesus the Christ conveyed this message to the Jews of His day who believed in Him. Unfortunately, some of us (believers) today still live in bondage and don't realize that Christ has set us free. Today, we celebrate Juneteenth as being the day that the slaves in Texas were told they had been declared free two years prior. The news of their freedom was withheld and not conveyed to them. Sadly, even today some of us still don't realize that because of Jesus Christ, like the slaves in Texas, we have been "set free." Like the Judges in the Bible who lost God's favor because they stopped listening to God and set their own standards, we are not capable of making right and true choices without God. We live in an evil world and are subjected to the wiles of the the devil who prowls around looking for someone to kill and destroy. There will always be challenges in life and in this world. Just because we are Christians does not keep this from happening to us; we must use God's word as our standard and not our own. Jesus is the only one who can set us free.

Title - Hope for Now
Scripture - Ephesians 3:20-21, KJV
Notes: This message touches on several points and teaches us about giving God our offerings from the perspective of Cain and Able (Genesis 4:3-4,7). God does not accept all offerings. Verse 20 tells us that God (the creator of all) is able to do exceeding and abundantly above (more) for us according to what's in us (which is our faith)! We need a fresh and energizing hope to move us through our (Now) experience. As we listen to negativity on the News, we get a sense of hopelessness with gas prices at $5.00 a gallon, food prices soaring, run-away inflation, and a surging Pandemic. If we are not careful, we will begin to feel hopeless and helpless, believing there is not much we can do about our circumstances. But God! We still have hope in God - as the value of our hope is built on our faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for. Rest assured the enemy wants to take that away from us. However, our hope is built on the righteousness of God. Anything else will fail and will not relieve us of extreme circumstances. Verse 21 tells us that "unto Him be glory in the church, Christ Jesus throughout all ages." "Our Hope is for Now" and it is in Christ Jesus.

Title - Doing Good
Scripture - Luke 6:7-10, KJV
Notes: This message addresses the behavior of the scribes and Pharisees who supported the notion of not working on the sabbath day. Verse 7 tells us that the scribes and Pharisees watched Jesus to see if He would heal folks on the sabbath in order to build a case against Him (breaking the law) because they wanted to kill Him. In verse 8 Jesus told the the man with the withered hand to rise up and stand forth. Verse 9 tells us that Jesus asked the scribes and Pharisees if it is lawful on the sabbath to do good or to do evil - to save life or to destroy it? And in Verse 10, Jesus told the man with the withered hand to stretch out his hand; his hand was restored whole as the other. Jesus taught this lesson more than 2000 years ago but it is still relevant in 2022. It is alright to do good on the sabbath day. Clearly Luke 6:7-10 gives every Christian a model for doing good and not evil on the Sabbath day.

Title - Choosing Life
Scripture - Joshua 24:14-18, KJV
Notes: Scripture is clear in expressing the truth that "we should fear the Lord and serve Him with all faithfulness and throw away the gods your ancestors worshipped." Likewise, today we look to YouTube for answers for practically everything. We are even told how to discipline our children. Commercials on TV tell us what and how to do everything you can think of, but yet we fail at life. The true source of how we should live and treat others can be obtained from the (Holy Scriptures), the Bible. The keys to life are not connected to google search, but are revealed through the Word of God. The state of the country and life is not good or great without God. We declare that we want to have everything at any cost, even if it is not of God. You are then essentially serving an idyllic false god. The enemy loves to attack the head of the household because he speaks for everyone living there. And he has been successful in getting the head out of the house. But God stepped in and preserved us so that we don't have to serve the Amorites. We have a risen savior who died on the cross for our sins. That is who we serve. When you and your household serve the Lord (Joshua vs. 15), then you choose life.

Title - A Name
Scripture - Genesis 5:1-2, KJV
Notes: This message is taken from the written account of Adam's family line. God created man in His own image, male and female and named them Adam. Names are significant and unique to every person born giving them identity and purpose. In marriage the female takes the male's last name as they become one in unity and purpose. There is a natural attraction between a man and woman because God extracted a rib from man to form a woman. Therefore, man and woman complete one another. The relationship between a man and woman is no experiment. Purpose gives you direction and strength to continue on with a sense of identity for your children which is part of your legacy and heritage. The name Jesus who sacrificed His life, died on the cross and rose on the third day to forgive us our sins is the most important name of all.

Title - His Truth is Marching On
Scripture - John 8:31-36, KJV
Notes: This message speaks directly to the truth. In 2022, many claim to be speaking the truth even when their eyes see differently. We ask ourselves the question, "Are we standing on truth?" If so, what is truth? Unfortunately, in today's world we see truth based on political party affiliation. Man sees his own righteousness from a political frame of reference in a struggle to see the truth.Much of America uses the constitution as a qualifying document for discerning the truth when it should be subordinate to scripture in the Bible. Jesus said, "If you continue in my word you will know the truth and the truth will make you free." God's word is not your own belief based on your feelings. And just because something is legal does not make it right. The Word of God is like a mirror - we can see the reflection of ourselves throughout. Jesus raised the bar above and beyond the law. The Word of God is unconditional. We should only serve God and not man; for no man can serve two masters without hating one. Freedom comes from believing and trusting in God's Word. This freedom is irrevocable, the world did not give it to us and cannot take it away. Jesus is the "truth, the life and the way." If the Word of God doesn't say it, then don't believe it. This is why it is important for each of us to read and know God's true Word.

Title - When You Can't Find Jesus
Scripture - Mark 16:1-8, KJV
Notes: This Easter message points us towards the resurrection of Jesus. When Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James went to the sepulchre to anoint Jesus' body with spices, they saw that the stone had been rolled away and that the tomb was empty. On the surface, it appeared that Jesus was lost. However, the Lord had risen on that third day. Today, when we experience trials and tribulations it seems as if Jesus is lost. The Lord, our savior, is always with us especially in the mist of troubled waters. Jesus calms the waters, He is our healer and deliverer. He has all power and never turns His back on His children. We should always know that Christ is alive and in our hearts and it is our job to continue to open our hearts to the Holy Spirit. He is risen and has washed our sins with His blood.

Title - If God Can Use a Donkey What About Me?
Scripture - Matthew 21:1-3, KJV
Notes: This Palm Sunday message is reflective of charges against an innocent man, being falsely accused of crimes he did not commit and being sentenced to death. This man was our Lord Jesus Christ who shed His blood on the cross for our sins. John 3:16 acknowledges how much God loves us that He sacrificed His only begotten son so that we may have eternal life. Scripture tells us that palms were laid down as Jesus was entering the gates of Jerusalem. Case in point, if Jesus can use a donkey and a colt to carry the Word of God to Jerusalem, how much more can He do for you and me. The Jews were looking for a warrior and great conqueror. Jesus was triumphal because He humbled himself by ridding a donkey thus sending the message of love and peace to all who saw and heard Him. When Jesus sent disciples looking for a donkey and colt, He would always send 2 with one being a witness. We ask God to use us for His purpose. Let us not forget our children.God is working in and through us although we may not see it. It is a work in progress.

Title - Lord, is it I?
Scripture - Matthew 26:20-22, KJV
Notes: Matthew 26:22, poses the question, "Lord, is it I?" In precarious situations, we should first ask ourselves the question are we the problem? Instead, we tend to blame everyone else for our troubles. This message addresses the personal issue of looking at everyone else when it appears somebody has done something wrong. People tend to be selfish, not caring about the needs of others with an attitude of carelessness while pointing fingers at others. Apostle Paul admonished the Church at Corinth for the same issues. As Christians, we should be mindful of what we say and do because the heart reveals our true intentions. This message reflects upon the Lord's Supper and His betrayal, but we should remember we are covered by the blood of Christ.

Title - When I Grow Up
Scripture - Galatians 4:1-7, KJV
Notes: This message reflects upon being poor and not knowing what privilege really has to offer. Essentially, you don't know what you are missing if you've never been exposed to it. The message further points towards understanding and knowing who God really is when we grow up. When we were minors or children, we were just like slaves being ordered around with no say in the conduct of our own lives. But when we come of age, the Father decides when to give the privilege of inheritance. Galatians 4:7 tells us,"that we are no longer a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ."

Title - Can I Get a Witness Now or Later?
Scripture - Luke 21:7-9, KJV
Notes: This message focuses on the "Signs of the End Times" and our Christian duty to witness now, not later, for there is much deception to come in the days ahead. Moreover, there will be a price to be paid for witnessing later. The message reflects upon Jesus coming to Rapture believers (His Church) and the difficult times ahead during the Tribulation. In conclusion, there is no mystery about when to witness. The time is now.

Title - What in Hell do You Want?
Scripture - Luke 16:19-25, KJV
Notes: This message focuses on what do you think is in hell that is better than heaven. The message compares
Lazarus and the Rich Man.
Lazarus, the beggar, died and was carried by Angels to Abraham's bosom; the Rich Man also died, and was buried. And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeketh Abraham afar and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried out and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
1. The Rich Man had no assistance
2. The Rich Man was all alone
3. The Rich Man was tormented
Don't be confused; there is nothing in hell but loneliness and utter torment and flames throughout eternity.

Title - Maintaining Generational Hope
Scripture - Psalm 78:1-7, KJV
Notes: This psalm was written by Asaph, the Chief Musician of David. These verses tell the story of the Israelites to the next generation and how they resolved their problems. This story provides a way for us to address our problems today in this broken world.
1. Today God is like a cup of coffee sitting on the table growing cold. This psalm provides guidance for us to move through trials and tribulations in our lives.
2. We need to have faith and hope to instill God's Word (for His glory) in our children to the next generation.
3. In order to maintain generational hope, God will give us a story of hope to tell our children and our children's children.

Title - True Oneness
Scripture - John 17:20-23, KJV
Background scriptures - Genesis 9-10-11, KJV
Notes: Continuing to reflect upon Black History in scriptures - Our background scriptures tell us that the people attempted to build a tower to heaven. This displeased God so He confused their language and scattered them over the earth. Therefore, they could not communicate with each other, but could still maintain communication with God. The message tells us that we must know when and why we were separated from God before we can truly become one nation with God (John 17:21). Jesus' prayer for His church is"True Oneness" showing us the model that we (all churches) must be one as He and the Father are one.

Title - Could Be Your Last Chance
Scripture - Jonah 3:1-5, KJV
Notes: In honor of Black History, this message talks about the presence of black people in the scriptures. The Bible tells us that there is only one race. After the flood, the world was populated by Noah and his three sons. It further discusses Cush, the ancestor of Nimrod, the great warrior, who built the kingdom of Babylon (Genesis 10:8, KJV).
